Chris Ziemba Quartet
The Chris Ziemba Quartet officially debuted in in June 2014 at Jazz at the Kitano. Augmented by fellow band members Michael Thomas (saxophone), Hans Glawischnig (bass) and Jeremy Noller (drums), the quartet features a bunch of highly individual artistic voices which combine to create an exciting and forward-looking aesthetic, always with a deferential tip of the hat to the vast and colorful tradition of the music. The quartet is a primary vehicle for Ziemba's compositional output; his tunes are often showcased alongside some of his favorite standards and compositions from the jazz repertoire (including works by Herbie Nichols, Kurt Weill and John Lewis, among many others). Chris Ziemba - Michael Thomas Duo
Chris and saxophonist Mike Thomas met in 2011 at the Juilliard School when they entered together into the two-year Artist Diploma program. Having always favored the duo format for its intimacy and breadth of possibilities, Ziemba quickly began calling duo sessions with Mike, whose strong musical vision consistently lent a refreshing perspective to the standards that were called. Since then, Mike and Chris have performed together at Jazz at the Kitano, and are in the process of putting the finishing touches on an album.
